We’re excited to announce our Shenzhen Volunteer & Internship Trip 2026—an immersive cultural, educational, and service-learning experience in Shenzhen!

This unique program allows students to engage in meaningful kindergarten and community English teaching, support local businesses, and participate in high school peer communication and collaborative team projects. Students will also develop leadership skills as local cultural ambassadors, experience teamwork and creative practice, and showcase their achievements through special exhibitions, media interviews, and live streaming—all while exploring the vibrant urban life of Shenzhen.

Time: June 20 – July 4, 2026


Trip Highlights:

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

  • Local Transportation
    We provide luxurious tourist bus and experienced professional drivers for our student group, The safety of students during transportation is of the highest priority to us.
  • Meals
    Our menus are designed to combine the culture of local cuisines with the familiarity of international fare to ensure an interesting, appetizing, and healthy diet for the students that compliments the energy.
    Hotel Buffet Breakfast – Western style breakfasts mixed with local Chinese additions.
    Lunch & Dinner – Local popular Chinese style menu adapted with special consideration towards nutritional, healthy and child-friendly foods. All meals plan are changeable.
  • Accommodation
    4-star hotel on this program. All student accommodation is in twin rooms according to availability and need; all teachers are placed in single rooms. We select accommodation with private western style bathrooms wherever possible.
  • Instructors & Equipment
    Chinese (English speaking) logistic coordinators and professional tour guides will be provided on every program. All staff are trained and certified in first aid and are responsible for all instruction work, activity facilitation, local service coordination, and resolution of any potential issues that may arise. All activities are led by Indier staff unless specially requested.
  • Insurance
    We purchase international travel & medical insurance which covers all outdoor activities we undertake on program.

Community Service DAY1:
AM/PM—English Teaching in the Kindergarten Participate in the school’s welcome ceremony, get familiar with the kids and the work of taking care kids, and prepare for the upcoming volunteer teaching assistant work

PM – Experience Non-Heritage Chaozhou Bamboo
Weaving In southern China, bamboo grows rapidly, providing abundant raw materials. Bamboo weaving is not only sustainable and environmentally friendly but also showcases the exceptional skills and creativity of the artisans. Watching professional craftsmen demonstrate bamboo weaving, trying your hand at it, and understanding the intricate techniques and value of this complex intangible cultural heritage will enhance your appreciation for this traditional craft

Visit the inheritors of bamboo weaving technology to hear the stories and culture behind this craft. Through face-to-face communication with the artisans, gain a deeper understanding of the origins, evolution, and significance of this intangible cultural
heritage in modern society. This experience will help members better recognize how to preserve and develop local culture

PM – Bamboo Weaving Workshop Demand Collection
Collect relevant demands and disseminate this traditional art to the general public by providing English store promotions, videos introducing intangible cultural heritage, graphic design or other

CITY WALK TIME: Market Exploration of Bamboo Weaving Artworks

AM—Explore the Dafen Oil Painting Village

Explore the “painting production line” workshops, where you can observe the entire chain of oil painting production, from copying and mass production to global distribution. You can also book an experience at an independent artist’s studio (such as thick scraping techniques or digital oil painting creation) and create your own small-sized exclusive artwork. Don’t miss visiting TNT Contemporary Art Space and Sun Mountain Art Center, and pay attention to the possibility of the collision between bamboo weaving artworks and contemporary art

Gankeng Hakka Cultural Town is one of the important representatives of Hakka culture in
Shenzhen. Visit Gan-keng Ancient Town to admire traditional Hakka architecture such as the round houses and ancestral halls, and immerse yourself in Hakka customs, dialect, music, dance, and cultural festivities

Host a public English learning corner in the community, freely open to all citizens who wish to improve their English skills. Participants will receive speaking coaching, English conversation practice, and language support, fostering cross-cultural communication and creating an atmosphere of inclusive learning in a relaxed and friendly environment

AM—Simulated Business Meeting
Conduct a simulated business meeting with your team focused on how to promote bamboo woven products in Western countries and beyond.

Participate in volunteer activities at the orphanage, donate the proceeds from the charity sale, helping the children learn English and assisting them with their homework in other subjects,and play games with them

Evening—Modern Business Area Exploration Explore the most famous shopping mall building and understand the Shenzhen’s business atmosphere and fashion style, consider how to mix bamboo weaving art with the fashion business trend

SHENZHEN TECHNOLOGY EXPLORATION AND EXPERIENCE

DJI Innovations Technology (Shenzhen) Visit and Test Flight at DJI Flagship Store in Shenzhen with Chinese students to learn about DJI’s drone products and their features, as well as the development path of the DJI brand. Get an up-close look at this groundbreaking technology, participate in team test flights, and experience the charm of
cutting-edge technology and the impact of technological innovation on our lives

Night—Visit Ping A Finance Center Sky Observation Deck On the 116th-floor observation deck, enjoy a panoramic view of Shenzhen and experience the thrill of the “suspended glass box.” Join the “City Skyline Photography Workshop” to capture the changing light and shadow effects as day turns to night through time-lapse photography

AM—Project Preparation Work

Public Speaking Rehearsal Integration and delivery of the outcome works of intangible cultural heritage protection projects

Have a team farewell party with Chinese teammates, enjoy an ancient imperial banquet, share the gains and take group photos for mementos
