Description
The Chia Chinese Immersion Day Camp harnesses the power of immersion learning, helping students pick up the language more easily than they would in a typical 1-2 hour class during the school year. The camp offers a rich language experience through eight engaging themes, designed to build fluency and refresh children’s Chinese skills in a fun, hands-on way. Themes like Food and Health, Exploring Nature, Space Exploration, and Journey of the Arts introduce students to new vocabulary, while they engage in creative projects like cooking, making balloon rockets, designing future cities, and crafting musical instruments.
Our camp combines play and effective learning to ensure children retain what they’ve learned, fostering a deeper connection with the language. This immersive approach provides an enjoyable and effective path to language mastery.
November 3rd Day camp: students will dive into a fun, hands-on language adventure by creating their very own mini grocery store! Using shoe boxes and air-dry clay, campers will design shelves filled with produce, proteins, snacks, and frozen foods—all while learning and reviewing Chinese vocabulary for each item. Through interactive role-play, they’ll practice real-life shopping conversations, from picking ingredients to checking out at the register.
Advanced learners will take it a step further by writing Chinese characters for their food items and creating names for their grocery stores, adding a creative literacy challenge.
By the end of the day, everyone will proudly present their mini grocery stores and act out shopping scenes with their friends—all in Chinese!
