At Chia Chinese, we are thrilled to announce some key enhancements to our educational offerings, led by our new Curriculum Consultant, Chunyuan Zou Laoshi. With an impressive 12 years of experience teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Thailand and the U.S., Chunyuan Laoshi brings invaluable expertise to our team.
Her role will focus on refining our curriculum, placement tests, evaluation systems, and home practice materials, particularly for our advanced learners.
Chunyuan Laoshi’s teaching philosophy centers on creating a nurturing and engaging environment for students. She believes that “children learn best when they are happy” and that “educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” These guiding principles will shape our instructional strategies and help foster a joyful learning experience for all our students.
Enhancements to Curriculum and Evaluation
Alongside welcoming Chunyuan Laoshi, we are introducing several improvements to our curriculum. Our foundational principles remain the same—emphasizing project-based learning, immersive instruction, and interactive storytelling—but we are adding new elements designed to deepen students’ understanding and reinforce their skills over time:
- Spiral Learning Approach: This method ensures that students continually revisit and deepen their knowledge of key concepts at each stage of learning, promoting long-term retention and mastery.
- 4 Key Units and 30+ Topics: Our updated curriculum now includes focused units covering listening, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural immersion, giving students a well-rounded education in Chinese.
- ACTFL Can-Do Statements for Assessment: Clear, measurable learning outcomes will guide students’ progress. We will incorporate ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) Can-Do Statements to track and evaluate achievements.
- Daily Updates and Home Practice Materials: To strengthen skills outside of the classroom, we will provide daily updates and practice materials that students can access at home.
- Exclusive Website Access: Our upgraded website will offer personal login access, allowing students to review lessons and practice anytime, anywhere on their tablets. This will provide greater flexibility in reinforcing what they’ve learned during Chia classes.
