Description
Our Heritage Chinese Class is designed to help students build fluency in spoken Chinese, recognize high-frequency Chinese characters, and develop strong reading and writing skills. Using a “learning through context” approach, we integrate captivating books and interactive activities tailored to students’ grade levels and individual needs.
Throughout the year, students will work on mastering 150–300 high-frequency Chinese characters and 75 essential sentences, reinforcing their foundation for effective communication. They will review grade-level characters, deepen understanding through engaging stories and role-play, and begin applying writing skills in meaningful projects.
In the fall, students focus on strengthening literacy through leveled reading, character recognition, and handwriting practice supported by thematic stories and activities. Winter centers on Lunar New Year celebrations, exploring the 12 zodiac animals, and cultural projects that connect language learning with traditions. In spring, students expand their vocabulary by exploring nature, seasonal changes, and related sentence building through hands-on learning and role-play.
This program offers a well-rounded and immersive learning experience that develops both language skills and cultural understanding throughout the school year.
