Are you passionate about Chinese language and culture? Do you want to make a difference in younger students’ lives while sharpening your own Chinese skills? Join our volunteer team and become a role model for young Chinese learners! As a participant, you’ll strengthen your Chinese communication and literacy, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact on our community.
This year-long volunteer program also offers the possibility of a summer educational trip to China or Taiwan, where you can teach English at a local school. You’ll also earn a certificate of recognition and community service hours as we support you every step of the way!
Time and Location:
Weekdays: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Palisades and Chevy Chase
Sundays: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM or 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Somerset Elementary
Program Details
Experience You’ll Gain:
- Actively engage in fully immersive language and cultural learning environments.
- Mentor younger students, assisting with their language development and demonstrating fluent Chinese.
- Attend an orientation to deepen your understanding of our educational philosophy and culture.
- Join a warm, supportive community and build meaningful relationships with students and teachers alike.
What You Will Achieve:
- Develop key leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Receive an official certificate and earn valuable community service hours.
- Gain practical, long-term experience through a school-year-long internship.
- Learn how to help run an educational program and organization.
- Have the preference opportunity to join our 2025 summer educational trip to China to teach English in local schools after mastering key teaching skills.
